We'd love to say that all professional freelance jobs are sunshine and rainbows. But, unfortunately, like in any job, there will be great days and there will be some, well... Less than great days. Luckily, there are simple things you can do to help you feel better and not let a bad day at work weigh you down. Here are some quick tips to help you end the work day on a positive note.
1. Appreciate what you accomplished: Small wins can boost inner work life, tremendously.
ACTION: At the end of the day, take a look to review your to-do list and what you crossed off and celebrate what you accomplished and re-write a new to-do list for tomorrow. Prepare your main actions that need to be completed and review what’s on your schedule, too!
2. Clean up your desk: Doing this made me feel more in control, less scattered, and like I was tying up the loose ends of my day into a nice little bow.
ACTION: Clean up the scrap papers, put the coffee mugs in the dishwasher, heck – even Lysol your desk so it’s left looking clean and smelling clean, too.
3. Plan an after-work activity: It doesn’t have to be anything big, and you don’t have to spend money. Just take some time for yourself to do something you truly enjoy.
ACTION: Aim to plan one networking event a week. This will help you to look forward to something but also back great business and energy to the office.
But for the most part, at the end of the day, you’re in charge. When you take back control of the wheel, you can start to steer it in a more positive direction and end each day on a positive note!
